How a Modern System Helped Universal Aerospace Systems Scale

Universal Aerospace Systems (UAS) is a Deerfield Beach, Florida-based aftermarket supplier of airframe and engine parts for commercial and military aircraft. Backed by 24/7 AOG support and a team that prides itself on deep industry knowledge, UAS built its reputation on getting customers the right part, fast, whether that means sourcing from their own inventory or tapping into a wide network of trusted partners.

Unlike many growing aviation businesses that patch together spreadsheets and disconnected tools before eventually adopting an ERP, UAS took a different path: they built their operations on AvSight from day one. According to CEO Mohsin Raza, that decision has paid off far beyond what the team expected.

A Foundation Built for Growth

CEO Mohsin Raza was looking for something economical when he set up the company’s systems, a platform that wouldn’t strain the budget of a growing business. It didn’t take long to realize AvSight was more than a cost-effective choice.

“We started looking for something economical, but AvSight ended up changing the way we look at aviation software. Within the first 90 days, we realized this wasn’t just a cost-friendly option. It was something that could really help us grow.”

Why AvSight?

What’s kept Raza sold on the platform ever since is the freedom to shape it around how UAS actually works. “What we really love about AvSight is the freedom to make modifications and the freedom to do pretty much anything we need,” he explains. That flexibility carries over to how AvSight connects with the rest of their systems, too. Raza points to their accounting integration as an example, saying it runs so smoothly his team barely notices it’s there. “It’s very smooth, you don’t even feel it. It’s not clunky like other systems I’ve used,” he says.

The AvSight Advantage

Streamlined Automation

UAS has leaned heavily into Salesforce flows inside AvSight, building automated reminders for repair order status, internal core tracking, and shipping confirmations. For Raza, automating the busywork isn’t optional anymore, it’s the standard. “Reminding people, telling people what to do, asking people for things, those days are gone,” he says. “You should have automation set up, and AvSight is really good at that.” The same efficiency shows up in everyday tasks too. Raza estimates AvSight cut his team’s click volume roughly in half compared to the systems he used previously. “I’m searching for a part, and it saves me so much time. I don’t have fifteen options in front of me, just what I actually need,” he says.

That same mindset carries over to their financial operations. Raza says automating routine account communications has helped UAS cut their open receivables by 40 percent, without adding headcount to do it.

“We’ve cut our open receivables by 40 percent just by automating things we used to track down manually.”

Next-Level Visibility

AvSight’s customizable metrics let UAS build views that surface exactly what matters and hide the rest, a feature Raza calls one of his favorites. “I love it because I don’t have to look at things I don’t need to see,” he says. “I can create my own metrics. That’s the best part. I can change things and decide what matters to me.” Navigation has gotten faster too. Clicking a linked record, like a part number, now opens directly in a new tab instead of forcing users to burrow through layers of screens and back out again. “That used to be where a lot of time was wasted, going back and forth between screens,” Raza notes.

Precision at Every Step

When asked which feature the team relies on most, Raza and Director of Operations Umar Khan both said customer quoting, without missing a beat. For a parts business built on speed and accuracy, the ability to attach paperwork directly to a quote, and never lose track of it, has been a major win. “The biggest problem in this modern world is attaching paperwork, or forgetting to,” Raza says.

“Our ability to attach paperwork directly to the quote and create a link from there is magic. Even if the attachment is huge, it saves it and gives you a link. You just click and it’s there.”

Speed matters most of the time, but not always. When it comes to moving parts through the shop, Raza says UAS actually wants more clicks, not fewer. AvSight’s release process walks every part through four distinct steps, picking, inspection, staging on an outbound shelf, and then shipping, so nothing can skip ahead in the queue. For an aviation parts business, that structure means every part gets the same quality and compliance check before it goes out the door, every time. “We don’t have to think about it,” Raza says. “The system does it for us and makes us double-check.”

Reliable Access, Anywhere

Having previously worked with on-premise systems, Raza is candid about what a cloud platform means for uptime and flexibility. “Not having a server is such a big thing,” he says. “I used to lose entire days of work when our old server went down. Sometimes it happened once a month. Now I can log in from anywhere, anytime, as long as I have my login.”

Why It Works

UAS didn’t need to be talked into an ERP. They needed a platform flexible enough to keep pace with a company that customizes constantly and never stops looking for the next efficiency gain. AvSight has been able to keep up. Raza and his team are already experimenting with AI tools to help speed up their monthly aircraft asset evaluations, a core part of UAS’s business.

Advice for Prospects

Asked what he’d tell someone considering AvSight, Raza didn’t hesitate:

“Don’t waste time, get on it right away. There’s no limit to what you can do with it once you’re in.”
