The Shift From Passive ERPs to Systems of Action

Before AvSight was founded, I spent 15 years as a CIO for aviation aftermarket and MRO Companies. But it isn’t just me. Across the AvSight team, we have hundreds of years of combined experience working directly in aviation and aviation software development. We know firsthand what it’s like to sit at a desk and try to clear a massive queue of quotes, allocate parts, and hunt down vendor pricing before a deadline.

That experience shaped how we built AvSight.

From day one, our goal was to eliminate the clunky, disconnected systems that slowed teams down. We succeeded in building the industry’s most advanced cloud platform, providing companies with streamlined workflows and unprecedented visibility. Today, hundreds of aviation companies rely on our platform to run their entire operations. Still, as we look to the future, we recognize that the fundamental nature of all enterprise software is about to change.

For decades, ERP systems have been designed as systems of record. No matter how modern and beautifully designed the interface, they remain inherently passive. They store information, but they rely on people to find it, interpret it, and act on it.

The friction with this traditional model is that aviation is simply too dynamic. When your team has to manually search across screens, emails, and external marketplaces to gather information, there is a hard ceiling on how fast you can operate. Quotes take longer to turn around. Opportunities get missed. Growth becomes constrained not by demand, but by how quickly your team can process information.

Traditional automation hasn’t solved this problem. Rigid “if-then” rules work in predictable scenarios, but aviation rarely follows a script. The moment conditions change, those rules break down. To move forward, software must evolve from storing data to acting on it.

Accelerating Tasks with AvSight Intelligence

About a year ago, we took the first step towards a truly action-driven system when we released AvSight Intelligence. This first launch focused on powerful individual tools, which proved that embedded AI could dramatically accelerate specific, isolated tasks.

A great example of this kind of tool is Quote Agent, an AI-driven quoting assistant that makes decisions based on the same factors as your sales team. Quote Agent can look at things such as inventory, history, and account details to action inbound quotes.

The results are incredible — customers have noted increases of more than 54% in the volume of quotes they’ve been able to process,  but there are still limitations. While these tools dramatically improve individual tasks, they still operate within defined boundaries. Tech savvy teams might even be able to achieve similar results with sophisticated flows.

But the latest evolution of our platform takes AI far beyond enhanced automation with two new features: AvSight Agent Mesh and Agent Augmented Context (AAC).

From Isolated Tools to a Unified Ecosystem

Task-specific AI agents are powerful, but on their own, they behave like specialists working in isolation. They complete their task, then wait for the next input, either from another system or a human. To truly break through organizational limitations requires a unified team that can seamlessly work together. Agent Mesh and Agent Augmented Context provide exactly that.

Instead of a monolithic database waiting for input, we have built a decentralized, event-driven network. Within this mesh, specialized AI agents—like our Quote Agent, RFQ Agent, and future tools — can instantly communicate and collaborate with each other to proactively solve complex problems. This creates a level of harmonious action that could never be replicated with automation.

For example, if a sales quote identifies a “No Stock” condition, the system doesn’t just flag it and wait. It immediately triggers the next step. The RFQ Agent begins sourcing vendors in the background, keeping the process moving without manual intervention.

Designed to Empower, Not Replace

I want to be very clear: AvSight is an incredibly powerful platform exactly as it is today. If you love how your team works right now, you don’t have to change a thing. These capabilities are entirely optional.

Our core system remains the best in the industry, even if you never turn on a single AI feature. We view AI strictly as an opt-in assistant that is treated as a dial, not a simple switch. These features allow you to choose between continuing to use standard, deterministic rules and applying AI agents specifically where you need them to eliminate bottlenecks.

I know that introducing AI into highly regulated workflows makes people nervous, and there is a very real fear of losing control. That is why our architecture is designed to empower your employees, not replace them.

When you turn these features on, our AI agents perform the heavy lifting as “shadow work” in a secure, background staging area we call AAC. In simple terms, they do the research and preparation before you even open a record. They gather data, evaluate options, and build a proposed outcome in the background. However, the AI does not finalize any decision.

Instead of starting from scratch with an empty form, your team is presented with a fully prepared solution, ready for review. With a single click, that work can be approved and converted into a live transaction.

The AI does the heavy lifting. Your team makes the decisions.

The Path Forward

The next great leap in aviation technology starts with moving away from passive data entry and adapting to assisted problem-solving. By shifting from passive systems to systems of action, teams can respond faster, process more work, and focus their time on higher-value decisions instead of repetitive tasks.

But as we embrace this capability, we cannot compromise on security. In the coming weeks, I’ll be breaking down how this architecture works in more detail — starting with why a native approach to AI is critical for protecting your proprietary data from external data lakes.

The era of doing manual tasks is ending. It’s time to let your software become an active member of your team.

As we roll out these new capabilities, we invite customers to demo them at MRO Americas before we launch our latest release.
